Maria was just thirteen years old, but she had become an expert in household chores because she had taken on the responsibilities of the home at the age of ten. One day, her mother suddenly passed away,  and since then, Maria had taken care of her younger brother and father like a mother. After the death of Maria's mother, her father started falling ill. Due to his illness, expenses increased. When it was discovered that her father had throat cancer, the doctor bluntly stated that his treatment would require going abroad and that it would cost ten lakh rupees. The mere thought of losing her father, like her mother, made her tremble, wondering how she would live with her eight-year-old brother.

 

Maria was a serious-minded girl, but she liked watching football, especially live matches, which was her only form of entertainment. Her favorite footballer was Qasim Baloch, who ruled the hearts of fans. With his excellent play, he had become the hero of the entire city. When Maria found out that a match was going to be held in the city, she was eager to watch it, but she didn't have money for a ticket. Her father somehow managed to get a ticket. Maria got a spot at the front of the women's section. The excitement of the spectators was worth seeing, even more than the players. Qasim did not disappoint his fans.

 

Maria received a call from a friend on her mobile phone. Due to the noise, Maria couldn't hear, and as she leaned forward to talk, a ball struck by Qasim flew directly and hit Maria's head. Her head hit the chair, and she got injured. The entire stadium, including Qasim, saw Maria getting injured on the big screen. Maria's injury wasn't severe, and she refused to leave the match, so her wound was bandaged there. The match was paused for a while but then resumed. In the final moments, Qasim scored a goal, winning the match for his team.

 

As soon as the match ended, Qasim came straight to Maria. Maria could not believe that a great footballer like Qasim could also be such a great person. Qasim patted Maria's head and then signed his shirt and gave it to Maria. After some thought, he took some money from his manager and tried to give it to Maria, but Maria pulled back her hand and apologized, saying, "Sorry, sir! I cannot take this money. What you have done for me is enough."

 

"You are a good and different girl," Qasim smiled. "And proud too."

"I am just naturally like this," she smiled humbly.

 

When Maria reached home, she found out that her father's condition had worsened, so he had been taken to a nearby hospital. Maria rushed to the hospital, where the surgeon doctor called her. When she entered the doctor's room, the doctor said without any preamble, "Girl! Arrange the money quickly and take him abroad."

"But doctor! I don't have the money," Maria said helplessly.

 

The doctor looked at Maria for a few moments and then said, "Today's match is all over social media, and so are you. Do you know that?"

"No, doctor!" Maria said in surprise. "Because I don't have a touch mobile phone."

"Okay..." The doctor nodded and said, "You are being highlighted on social media as a lucky and proud girl. I have a proposal. Give me the shirt that Qasim Baloch gave you. A millionaire friend of mine is a fan of Qasim Baloch, and he will bear all the expenses for your father's treatment. What do you say..."

Tears welled up in Maria's eyes. She kissed the shirt and gave it to the doctor, saying, "Nothing is more important to me than my father. Please save my father."

 

The doctor took the shirt. That night, Maria's father was sent abroad for treatment. The next day, he underwent surgery. When Maria received the news that her father had regained consciousness, she fell into prostration. The day Maria's father was to return home, she spent some money to decorate the house. When they arrived home and saw the decorated house, they were delighted.

A little while later, a motorcycle stopped outside. A courier company representative handed Maria a bouquet of flowers and a box. Maria received the parcel in surprise. She was thrilled to learn that the flowers were sent by Qasim Baloch. He was indeed a great person. He had kept track of Maria's every moment and had sent the gift himself.

In times of hardship, resilience and integrity can inspire others and lead to unexpected support. Generosity and compassion from those around us can make a significant difference in our lives.
